Mozambique has imposed strict restrictions on the movement of livestock and the transportation of feed in several districts to contain a resurgence of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD). The disease has been detected in the districts of Massingir in Gaza province and Manhiça in Maputo province. Authorities are conducting weekly inspections and vaccinations, and are working to identify the specific strains of the virus causing the infections. The country aims to protect its livestock sector and safeguard food security through these control measures.
