Muan-gun, a county in Jeollanam-do, South Korea, has launched a fry release project to develop sustainable fishery resources. The project involves releasing 283,000 black sea bream fry and 144,000 perch fry into local ports to boost fish populations and support local fishermen. Since 2000, the county has released a total of 65.15 million fish and operates 4 octopus farms and 6 octopus spawning grounds. Additionally, 25,000 mating and mother octopuses will be released in accordance with the upcoming octopus ban. The county plans to continue this initiative to create a rich fishing ground and increase fishermen's income.
