Naju City in South Jeolla Province, South Korea has exported its first batch of the early-maturing 'Wonhwang pear' to the United States, equivalent to 8 containers or approximately 110 tons. The city aims to export 6,000 tons of pears this year. Last year, Naju City, the largest pear producing region in the country, exported 5,256 tons of pears, 2,220 tons of which were sent to the United States. To boost exports, the city plans to promote specialized export complexes, support contract shipments, and cover packaging materials and transportation costs.
