Zimbabwe's Minister of Defence, Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, has emphasized that recurring natural disasters, attributed to climate change, pose a significant threat to the country's national security. She highlighted the necessity for a multi-sectoral strategy to mitigate these disasters' impact and stressed the importance of prioritizing the study of natural disasters in the military. The Minister also discussed the government's efforts to address food insecurity and infrastructure development, including the establishment of a Zimbabwe Defence Forces construction brigade and plans to establish a world-class hospital. Additionally, she addressed the economic prospects of the Zimbabwe Defence Industries and the development of Zimbabwe's iron and steel industry.
