Netherlands: Nearly 40,000 tons of onions exported in one week

According to the figures, 39,292 tonnes of onions were exported in the week from October to November. This is 13,000 tonnes more than in the same period a year earlier. High prices put a brake on exports last year, but this year exports are continuing well. Since the beginning of September, weekly exports have fluctuated between 30,000 and 40,000 tonnes. This means that exports are not yet at the high level of 2020 and 2021. However, the market is maintaining good prices, with a slight increase in prices every week. The absolute peak in weekly exports was recorded in week 45 of 2020, with an export of 47,082 tonnes of onions. That year had six weeks in which onion exports exceeded 40,000 tonnes. It should be noted that exports collapsed after the turn of the year and quickly fell below 20,000 tonnes. In 2022, weekly exports exceeded 40,000 tonnes three times.
