New ANTT system pressures freight and halts logistics of fertilizers

The new model of minimum freight rate oversight, implemented by the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT), has caused direct impacts on the Brazilian logistics sector. Since compliance began to be automatically verified through the Electronic Fiscal Document Manifest (MDF-e), carriers report increased costs and a drop in cargo movement — especially in the fertilizer segment. The change, which does away with the physical inspection of vehicles, is based on the digital analysis of information declared by contracting companies. The system cross-references MDF-e data with the minimum values defined by law for road transport, automatically identifying freights paid below the established floor. With the new tool, oversight has become more rigorous and comprehensive.
