The Australian government is working with industry to develop a new Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) scheme livestock method aimed at enabling farmers to diversify income through herd management practices that reduce methane emissions . The proposed method, being developed by Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA), is intended to replace the Beef Cattle Herd Management method, which expired on 30 September 2025 after 10 years of operation.
