The first estimate of Brazil's 2024-2025 orange crop in São Paulo and Triângulo/Sudoeste Mineiro regions has been reduced by 7%, totaling 215.78 million boxes, due to smaller fruit size caused by hot and dry weather. The early harvest, which accounted for 45% of the crop by mid-August, helped mitigate losses from greening. The decrease in average fruit size from 169 grams to 155 grams also increased the number of fruits needed for a 40.8 kg box by 23. The next estimate will provide more accurate data on the fourth flowering, with the harvest estimation survey conducted by Fundecitrus, Markestrat, and professors from FEA-RP/USP and FCAV/Unesp.
