The Ministry of Agriculture in Spain has reported a outbreak of tuberculosis on a cattle farm in Llanera, Asturias, marking the seventh such outbreak in the country for 2022 and the second in less than six months in the previously tuberculosis-free regions of Asturias and Galicia. The index case was identified on a farm of 24 bovines, with the first outbreaks in Asturias reported in June, leading to the suspension of the region's tuberculosis-free status, which was granted just months ago by the European Commission. The national eradication plans require that the incidence rate of establishments confirmed as infected should not exceed 0.1% of the total in the last three years to maintain the tuberculosis-free status.
