A new subsidy program has been launched to aid livestock farmers in safeguarding their animals from wolves, by offering financial assistance for wolf-resistant fencing. With a maximum grant of 20,000 euros per application, this scheme is applicable to a broad spectrum of outdoor livestock and accepts retroactive claims for fences erected prior to its commencement on April 11. Additionally, the program now allows for applications to be made before the purchase is completed, but mandates the installation of approved wolf-resistant measures within 3 months. This initiative builds upon earlier subsidies aimed at sheep and goat farmers within wolf territories and supersedes temporary measures for regions frequently plagued by wolf attacks.
