[Korean Farmers' News Agency, Reporter Kang Jae-nam] The farm income from the new varieties of mandarin oranges cultivated in Jeju has been found to be higher than that of existing varieties. According to the Jeju Agricultural Technology Institute, since 2022, experimental cultivation of six new varieties of mandarin oranges—'Gaeulhyang', 'Dalkomi', 'Seolhyang', 'Urihyang', 'Matnabbong', and 'Red Star'—has been conducted on 46 farms across 8.6 hectares in the Jeju region. Of these, 21.4 tons of the four varieties 'Gaeulhyang', 'Dalkomi', 'Seolhyang', and 'Urihyang' were delivered to the Jeju Citrus Cooperative for the first time last year. The farm income for the four new varieties of mandarin oranges ranged from 6,700 won to 8,800 won per kilogram.
