New Zealand's export of fresh fruit and vegetables is projected to reach nearly $3 billion this year, a 11% increase from 2020, with kiwis making up two thirds of the total export value. The country's kiwi export is expected to increase by 10% to 718,000 tons, largely due to the export of yellow kiwis which now make up almost 60% of the total. Apples, New Zealand's second largest export product, are expected to have a moderate year with exports expected to be less than 404,000 tons. The majority of apple exports, 54%, are going to countries in South and East Asia, while exports to Europe have decreased.
