Croatian and Bosnian authorities have halted shipments of peaches from Albania due to the detection of dangerous chemicals, reports "Albanian Daily News" as cited by BTA.
In Croatian peaches from Albania, an elevated content of nickel was detected. An alert was issued in the European Commission's food safety system with information that consumption of the fruit poses a potential danger to consumers.
Following Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, a shipment of peaches from Albania was also stopped due to high levels of pesticides.
Specifically in Bosnia, an excessive content of chlorpyrifos was detected—a substance that can cause harm to human health.
Bosnian experts warned against consuming the peaches because they have already reached the market.
