Nizhny Novgorod crayfish will bring additional income to local fishermen in Russia

For the first time in the Nizhny Novgorod region, commercial fishing for crayfish opens Rosrybolovstvo recently held an auction for the distribution of crayfish quotas in the Cheboksary reservoir. The trades aroused considerable interest among representatives of the fishing industry in the region. Specialists of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography estimated the stocks of crayfish for industrial fishing: according to the recommendations of scientists, the volume of production for development in 2022 is set at 4,350 tons. According to the fishing rules for the Volga-Caspian fishery basin, crayfish fishing is prohibited from December 1 to July 14 and from August 16 to September 14; crayfish with a mesh size (step) of at least 22 mm can be used for production.
