In the first half of 2024, North Ossetia-Alania saw a significant increase in grain exports, totaling $19.5 million, which is a 31.5% rise from the previous year. The majority of the exports were transit cargo, with local producers contributing only 3% to the total. The Republic also reported significant agricultural activities, with the sowing of nearly 34.7 thousand hectares of oilseeds and the first sowing of industrial hemp in the Kirov region in a long time. The harvest expected from these crops is 807 thousand tons of grain and leguminous crops. The main crops sown for the current harvest include winter wheat, barley, and rapeseed. The grain was shipped mainly to Armenia, Georgia, and Iraq, with a smaller amount exported to Iran.
