In July 2024, Norway experienced a reversal of the historical decline in its seafood export value, with a 6% increase year over year, reaching NOK 13 billion (USD 1.12 billion, EUR 1.07 billion). This growth is primarily attributed to a strong salmon export volume and a weaker krone against the U.S. dollar and euro. Salmon exports saw a 13% increase, and while prices dropped, the value to major markets like Germany grew due to increased volumes. Additionally, trout exports and herring and mackerel prices hit records, contributing to the overall growth. However, cod exports experienced a decrease due to lower quotas and landings, continuing a multi-year trend.
