A collaborative project between Agrosavia and the Lasallian University Corporation in Colombia is converting surplus broccoli and lettuce harvest into powder using a validated agro-industrial process. Financed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the project aims to identify high-value by-products from these residues, which can be used in the production of dietary supplements due to their nutritional content and biofunctional compounds. This initiative is expected to generate extra income for producers, provide a stable commercial market, promote circular economy principles, and mitigate environmental impact by making better use of crop residues.
