Oat Cultivation Area Enlarged in 2025

According to figures from the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), oat cultivation is almost 18% larger at around 183,300 hectares compared to the previous year. This makes oats the only summer grain with an increase in cultivation area this year. The 2023 volume is even exceeded by almost 30%. "This increase is an important signal," commented Ulrich Schumacher, spokesperson for the peeling mills in the VGMS. He interprets the numbers as evidence that the "Oat Cultivation Initiative" jointly carried out with agriculture since 2019 is showing effect.
