Jeon O-young, a prospective candidate for the Jeju Province Governor from the Democratic Party, visited a house citrus farm in Namwon-eup, Seogwipo City, on the 4th, and proposed expanding the distribution of heat pumps using FTA funds. Jeon O-young said, "A project to replace facility house heating, which has been using fossil fuels, with renewable energy heat pumps is being carried out as a leading initiative in Jeju." He promised, "We will discuss revising guidelines related to FTA funds with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs to improve support for heat pumps for farmers." Jeon O-young listened to the concerns of facility house farmers who are worried about rising oil prices on site, and decided to strengthen the promotion of Jeju mandarins to counter imported citrus fruits such as mandarins. The facility house in Sinheung-ri, Namwon-eup, which Jeon O-young visited, is cultivating house citrus fruits using a kerosene boiler and a high-pressure fan, but is considering introducing an air heat heat pump, a 'boiler without oil', while bearing the burden of 30 million won in annual oil costs.
