Agricultural production in the European Union was valued at 531.9 billion euros at basic prices in 2024, a decrease of 0.9% compared to the previous 12 months. This marks the second consecutive year of a slight decline in value from the peak in 2022. This change in nominal value reflects the balance between a slight increase in production volume – by 1% and a decrease in the nominal price of agricultural goods and services – by 1.8%. For the same period, the EU's agricultural industry generated a gross value added of approximately 228.6 billion euros in 2024. Agricultural statistics indicate that agriculture contributed 1.2% to the EU's GDP in 2024. This information comes from the 2024 agricultural economic accounts data published by Eurostat. In 15 EU countries, production values were higher in 2024 than in 2023. The sharpest increases were in Ireland – by 8.9%, Croatia – by 8.8%, and Sweden – by 5%.
