After onion exports had experienced one of the best weeks ever in week 46 (43,601 tonnes), the export counter dropped to 36,482 tonnes a week later. In week 48, there was more interest in Dutch onions. Especially from Senegal. Where the West African country 'only' took in 4,762 tonnes of Dutch onions in week 47, that was more than double in week 48 with 10,826 tonnes. Up to and including week 48, 117,008 tonnes of onions have been shipped to Senegal this marketing season, approximately 3,000 tonnes less than the 2023-2024 season. This means that the export figures are reasonably comparable, despite the fact that the borders to the country opened a lot later this year than last year. Furthermore, the latest figures from KCB and GroentenFruit Huis show that Ivory Coast imported slightly more Dutch onions in week 48, with 6,236 tonnes, than the week before (5,905 tonnes).
