According to EastFruit analysts, the average wholesale prices for onions in Uzbekistan have updated a new record. As of January 20, 2023, onion prices were four times the previous record price for onions during this period, set last year. After large quantities of onions stored in poor conditions by growers and traders of Uzbekistan were frozen during abnormally cold weather, a massive shortage of onions led to a sharp rise in prices. However, the situation on the world onion market is tense and not only in Central Asia.
