Morocco's National Office for Food Safety (ONSSA) has approved the import of fresh red meat from sheep and goats from various countries, including the EU, Russia, and the USA, to boost market supply and lower prices. The initiative also permits the import of frozen or chilled meat from calves and cows from countries like Ukraine, Brazil, and Paraguay. All imports require health and halal certifications and will be inspected. This decision follows a meeting led by Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch to rejuvenate the agricultural sector, aiming to stabilize prices and enhance resilience against climate change and water scarcity.
