Switzerland has seen a significant rise in the adoption of organic farming, with the number of organic farms being one in six and organic food sales surging by 19% in 2020. The total expenditure on organic food in Switzerland exceeded 3.8 billion francs in the same year. The most popular organic products include eggs, bread, and vegetables, with their market share being 28.9%, 26.2%, and 23.9% respectively. The growth is attributed to the pandemic, with the canton of Bern experiencing the highest number of new organic farms in 2020. However, Bio Suisse, the main organic farming organization in Switzerland, is working to increase the representation of organic products in the food service industry.
