[Rural Development Administration National Institute of Animal Science] Interest from farmers in "Our Black Pig," a pig breed developed through planned mating of native native pigs and the 2007-established Chugjin Duroc and for which a patent was filed in 2015, continues to grow. According to the National Institute of Animal Science, the "Our Black Pig," known as a "tasty and well-growing pig," maintains the unique taste of native pigs while improving growth ability. After 65 pigs were distributed to 10 farms over three years starting in 2012, approximately 400 pigs were distributed to 20 farms in seven provinces including Gangwon, Gyeonggi, and Gyeongbuk in 2020. Starting in 2021, through the promotion of private seed pig farms, Our Black Pig produced will be made available to the general public.
