Tanzania: Over 100,000 cashew farmers register for inputs

CBT recently launched the 2023/24 season for the dissemination of inputs to farmers across the country include sulphur flour, water disinfectants and the spray pipes. In an exclusive interview with The Guardian, the CBT Director General Alfred Francis, said they had already registered cooperative unions which will be responsible for distributing the inputs to the farmer's. "The government focusing to increase production of cashew from 240,159 tons to 700,000 tons, and from 10kg to 35kg per single cashew tree," he expressed. Francis said CBT was working with the ministry of agriculture and cooperative unions to assure timely supply of the vital inputs. "Up to May this year, a total of 8,000kg of sulphur, and 1,000,000 liters of water disinfectants have already received," he said, adding that in this season the inputs have arrived more timely than during the past season.
