Despite the challenges presented by the Corona 19 pandemic, exports of processed food products such as kimchi, ramen, red pepper paste, chicken, and processed rice have seen a significant increase in the first eight months of 2020. These exports, which reached $4.845.67 million in August, mark a 4.9% increase from the same period last year. The surge in exports is largely due to strategic online marketing and targeted promotion to specific countries. Notable increases include a 40.3% rise in kimchi exports, driven by interest in healthy and fermented foods, and a 36.7% increase in ramen exports, fueled by its popularity as a convenient and long-lasting food. Chicken exports have also seen a boost, particularly to Vietnam and the United States, where they are consumed as health food. This growth in agricultural food exports is attributed to strategic selection of products, online marketing efforts, and collaboration between the private sector and the government. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food plans to further support the export of fresh fruits and vegetables in the latter half of the year.
