Companies in Sevastopol engaged in oyster farming received 53 tons of production in a year, increasing production by 1.5 times, TASS reported from the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Market of the region based on the results of the calculations of the indicators. The natural conditions in Sevastopol are not suitable for most types of agriculture typical for other regions of the Russian Federation, for example, wheat and many other crops are not grown here. The basis of agriculture here is viticulture, berry, fruit, and vegetable crops are grown. Also, one of the leading types of agriculture is the production of seafood. "Industrial aquaculture is represented on the territory of the city of Sevastopol, aquatic biological resources are grown in cages in the sea and in closed water supply systems. In 2025, aquaculture enterprises grew 53 tons of aquaculture, which is 52.7% more than in 2024," says the response to a TASS inquiry. It is clarified that 34.7 tons were produced the year before.
