The Pakistani government has announced its intention to become a member of the International Olive Council (IOC), aiming to increase olive production and become a significant olive oil producer in the region. The country currently produces around 1,500 tons of olive oil and 830 tons of table olives annually for domestic consumption. This move is part of a larger effort to plant millions of trees, including olives, to combat climate change and promote reforestation. The government is also investing in infrastructure and technology to improve olive cultivation and increase self-sufficiency in the sector.
