In the first half of October 2024, Vietnam saw a decrease of 33% in pangasius exports to Canada, despite reaching over 1 million USD. Overall, pangasius exports to Canada from January to mid-October 2024 increased by 10% compared to the same period in 2023, totaling 32 million USD. The majority of these exports were frozen pangasius fillets, with a value of 26.5 million USD in the first nine months of 2024, a 10% increase from the previous year. Additionally, exports of other dried and frozen fish products to Canada experienced a 56% increase in the same timeframe, amounting to 4 million USD. However, Vietnamese companies exporting to Canada must contend with stringent regulations regarding food safety, labeling, and environmental standards, highlighting the need for compliance and market understanding to expand their presence in this market.
