The UAE, a net importer of seafood products, consumes approximately 220,000 tons of seafood annually, equating to 28.6 kilos per capita, which is above the global average. The country imports around 22,000-24,000 tons of seafood from Vietnam each year, primarily in the form of frozen pangasius fillets, valued between 50-70 million USD. There is potential for increasing pangasius exports to the UAE due to its growing income and urbanization. Vietnam's pangasius exports are projected to reach 2 billion USD in 2023.
