In February 2024, Vietnam's pangasius exports to Brazil saw a 6% decrease compared to the same month in 2023, totaling 6 million USD. However, the first two months of 2024 witnessed a 42% surge in exports to Brazil, amounting to 20 million USD, primarily due to a significant increase in January. Brazil, being the fifth largest market for Vietnam's pangasius exports, mainly imports frozen pangasius fillets. The upcoming 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Brazil is anticipated to boost agricultural trade cooperation further. Despite a drop in the price of Vietnamese white meat fish exports to Brazil, the demand continues to be strong, with Vietnam serving as the main supplier. Challenges persist due to Brazil's stringent regulations on contaminants and additives, which are not in line with international standards. Recent discussions between officials aim at reviewing these regulations and simplifying administrative procedures for agricultural exports.
