The traditional year-end barbecue has returned to the center of the debate. While the president of the National Service of Animal Health and Quality (Senacsa), José Carlos Martin, guarantees that there will be no shortage of ribs for the holidays, the head of the Paraguayan Chamber of Supermarkets (Capasu), Gustavo Lezcano, warns that the slaughterhouses could be "opening the umbrella" in the face of a potential price increase. According to data from Senacsa, between November and December, a production of 14,500 tons of ribs is expected, which represents 8,000 tons more than last year. In more graphic terms, about 800,000 rib plates will be produced, in addition to 350,000 imported plates, mainly from Brazil. "Everything indicates that the supply will be sufficient.
