The US Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service has forecasted a 12% decrease in Paraguay's corn exports for the 2025-26 marketing year, reaching 2.9 million tonnes, due to increasing domestic demand. This demand is expected to rise to a record 2.4 million tonnes, with ethanol use reaching 1.5 million tonnes, and is attributed to the expansion of the bioethanol industry, which is consuming a growing share of the country's corn supply. Despite a projected decline in total planted area, average yields are anticipated to improve assuming normal weather conditions. Corn stocks are forecasted to be roughly equivalent to one month of domestic use.
