Five Taiwanese technicians are in the country to inspect national meat processing plants to authorize meat exports. The Taiwanese market is the second most important for beef exports, accounting for about 11% of total exports, with 39,600 tons exported last year. Taiwan is also the largest pork market, accounting for about 89% of total exports. The goal is to double pork exports this year. The export of poultry meat to Taiwan is expected to start by the end of the year, providing a new export category.
