An embargo on agricultural imports from Germany has been lifted due to that country's status being changed back to 'foot-and-mouth disease-free zone where vaccination is not practiced'. The embargo was initially imposed after a foot-and-mouth disease outbreak was detected in Germany on January 10. The disease, which affected water buffalo, marked the first outbreak in the country since 1988. The lifting of the embargo was recorded in Senacsa Resolution No. 330. The disease has caused concern in South America, with countries like Paraguay, Argentina, and Uruguay halting imports of livestock products from Germany, and especially worried about the presence of the serotype O of the disease, which is also found in South America.
