Since January 2023, Taiwan has become a major market for Paraguayan pork exports, importing over 3,600 tons in 2023. The export volume is projected to double to 8,500 tons in 2023, accounting for 89% of Paraguay's total pork exports. The country also expects to export 42,000 tons of beef to Taiwan in 2024, up from 39,600 tons in the previous year. The authorization for poultry meat exports to Taiwan is under process and is expected to be completed by the end of the year, allowing two meat processing plants to export to Taiwan. The livestock sector, which contributes 83% to Paraguay's total exports to Taiwan, has seen significant growth, generating annual revenues of USD 370 million and experiencing a 550% growth over the past five years.
