Paraguay has exported 25 tons of pork to Uruguay for the first time, according to the National Meat Quality and Animal Health Administration of Paraguay (Senacsa). The UPISA meat processing plant, which employs 400 direct and 900 indirect employees, passed a technical review by Uruguay's Ministry of Animal Husbandry, Agriculture and Fisheries, allowing it to export pork to the country. Uruguay imports about 40,000 tons of pork annually, 95% of which comes from Brazil. Paraguay is expected to compete in the market with a more competitive price. In 2020, Paraguay exported over 2,800 tons of pork, with a total export value of over 6 million US dollars.
