In March 2023, Vietnam saw a significant increase in pepper exports, with a volume of 35.75 thousand tons and a value of 106.47 million USD, a 27.6% increase in volume and a 26.5% increase in value compared to February 2023. However, when compared to March 2022, there was a 50.6% increase in volume but a 4.7% decrease in value. The first quarter of 2023 witnessed a total export of approximately 76.2 thousand tons of pepper, valued at 233.45 million USD, marking a 6.0% decrease in volume and a 34.3% decrease in value compared to the same period in 2022. The average export price of pepper in March 2023 was 2,978 USD/ton, a decrease from both February 2023 and March 2022. The export markets experienced shifts, with some increasing and others decreasing in comparison to the previous year. The future outlook for pepper exports remains promising due to high demand from various markets, including China, Papua New Guinea, ASEAN, and Turkey, despite the slow demand from the US and EU markets.
