The Tabasco state government, along with various officials and authorities, visited aquaculture farms in the Carmen lagoon to inspect a new oyster production system called 'Suspension Baskets'. This system, adopted from Australia, is more efficient and has a lower mortality rate compared to the traditional system. The cost of the suspension system is high, but the result is a better quality product. The system has been supported by oil companies such as Chevron and Shell, and the government is promoting it to reduce environmental impact and improve oyster survival rates. The visit marked two years of pilot work on this suspension system.
