Persistent heavy rains in Brazil’s Rio Grande do Sul have caused extensive damage, impacting 198 municipalities and leading to 115 declaring a state of emergency. The adverse weather has affected 72,300 producers and resulted in significant crop and livestock losses, including 83,500 hectares of soybeans and 67,400 hectares of corn. Additionally, the state’s infrastructure has been affected, with 37,640 kilometers of roads impacted and 8,400 families losing access to clean water.
