The Peru Mahi Alliance (PMA), in collaboration with WWF Peru, has been actively promoting sustainable and responsible fishing practices, particularly for the artisanal mahi mahi fishery, which is vital to Peru's economy. Their participation in the Seafood Expo North America for the third consecutive year underscores their commitment to positioning Peru as a leading, reliable supplier in the global seafood market. The Fishery Progress platform recently awarded the Peruvian mahi mahi fishery an 'A' rating for 'Advanced progress' in sustainability efforts. Additionally, WWF Peru's report reveals that Peru has consistently landed an average of 42 thousand tons of mahi mahi annually between 2000-2022, with an average annual export of 12 thousand tons of frozen mahi mahi over the last decade, generating an average FOB value of US$ 90 million, highlighting the economic significance of this fishery.
