In August 2024, Peru experienced a notable surge in its fresh lemon exports, with a 42% increase in volume and a 46% increase in value compared to the same month in 2023. The country exported 2,462 tons of lemons for US$ 2.75 million. Despite this growth, the average price of lemons slightly increased by 2% from US$ 1.09 to US$ 1.12 per kilogram. The Netherlands, traditionally the leading importer, saw a significant decrease in both volume and value, while Spain and Chile emerged as the top buyers, showing substantial growth in imports.
