Peru exported 2,462 tons of fresh lemon for US$ 2.75 million in August

(Agraria.pe) In August 2024, Peruvian fresh lemon exports showed significant growth, although average prices in different markets fluctuated considerably. Key destinations —such as Spain and Chile— increased their imports; while others —such as the Netherlands— reduced their imported volume and value, despite the improvement in prices. In August of this year, Peru exported 2,462 tons of lemon for US$ 2.75 million, which represented an increase of 42% in volume and 46% in value compared to what was shipped in the same month of 2023. The average price showed a slight increase of 2%, going from US$ 1.09 per kilogram in August 2023 to US$ 1.12 per kilogram in August 2024. Of the six countries where the product arrived in the month, the Netherlands maintained the lead despite a 32% decrease in volume, with 613 tons purchased. In terms of value, it registered a 12% drop, closing at US$ 984,000. And this despite the 29% increase in price, which on average reached US$ 1.60 per kilogram. ...
