Peru exported 4,252 tons of artichokes for US$ 12 million in September 2024

Peru's artichoke exports continued to show a decrease in volume in September, which was exacerbated by lower prices. This year, there have now been seven consecutive months of decline. In September 2024, Peru exported 4,252 tons of the vegetable worth US$ 12 million, which represented a 23% decrease in volume and 24% in value compared to what was shipped in September of the previous year. The average price of the product decreased by 2%, from US$ 2.86 per kilogram in 2023 to US$ 2.80 in 2024. The product was exported to 12 destinations, with the top three being the United States (65% share), followed by Spain (25%) and Germany (3%). The United States remained the main market, although its imports showed a slight decrease. The volume shipped to this market was 2,862 tons (-2%) for a value of US$ 7.8 million (-5%), with an average price of US$ 2.72 per kilogram (-3%).
