Peru has reopened its market to beef and pork imports from Colombia, following a ban imposed in 2017 due to foot-and-mouth disease outbreaks. This decision, a result of negotiations between health authorities and diplomatic efforts, is anticipated to boost Colombia's meat exports. From 2010 to 2016, Peru's average annual imports of meat from Colombia were around US $ 3 million. The country has seen imports of pork reaching US $ 20 million in the last three years. The process for Colombian meat exporters to start shipping to Peru involves publishing and activating sanitary requirements.
