The Perryan government has introduced a new risk-based control model for the National Fisheries Health Agency (Sanipes), expected to save exporters in the fishing sector around USD 10 million in 2021. This model will be supported by an automated sanitary export certification, benefiting up to 150 exporting companies and potentially saving them around 1.2 million tons in costs related to laboratory analysis and stored frozen products. The new model is anticipated to be adopted by 35 companies in the remainder of 2020, saving them around USD 1.65 million. The shift aims to enhance the sector's competitiveness by simplifying certification processes and reducing waiting times from 18 days to just 3 hours.
