The Ministry of the Environment (MINAM) and the National Service of Natural Protected Areas (SERNANP) of Peru have introduced the new Master Plan for Natural Protected Areas (PDANP), extending its vision to 2050. This plan aims to safeguard Peru's ecosystems and biodiversity, with a particular focus on the next decade. Developed with collaboration from various stakeholders, including local communities and civil society, the PDANP is designed to facilitate economic and social development while conserving protected areas. It is expected to align with the Sustainable Development Goals and the National Biodiversity Strategy, and may potentially meet 20 out of 23 targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
