The 176th Council of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has announced Peru as the host country of the XVI World Forestry Congress in 2027. This positioning represents a global leadership role for Peru in the conservation of biodiversity and the sustainable management of forest and wildlife resources. The announcement follows a joint effort by Peru's National Forest and Wildlife Service and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The congresses, held approximately every six years, serve as forums for discussing forestry issues and providing national, regional, and global recommendations.
