In the first quarter of 2024, Spain became the primary market for Peruvian agro-exports, marking a 26% increase to reach US$ 147 million, catapulting it among the top three buyers of Peruvian agricultural products. A notable shift occurred in the commodity mix, with avocados, mangoes, and asparagus being the leading exports. Avocado exports saw a significant surge in both volume and value, driven by increased demand and pricing. Mango exports, although experiencing a drop in volume, witnessed a dramatic price hike, making it the quarter's biggest revenue earner. Asparagus exports also contributed to the growth, despite a decrease in volume, thanks to a higher average price. Westfalia Fruit Perú S.A.C. and Marand Company S.A.C. were the leading exporters of avocados, while Best Fruits Of Perú S.A.C. and Passion Fresh S.A.C. stood out in mango exports. Green Perú S.A. and Agroexportaciones Nathanael S.A.C. were the prominent exporters of asparagus.
