The global demand for asparagus due to healthier diet trends has led to challenges for Peruvian exporters, with price drops and increased competition in 2022. However, the 2023 El Niño phenomenon reduced global supply, resulting in higher prices and a profitable year for Peruvian producers, despite threats from Mexican and Chinese production. In 2024, Peruvian asparagus exports are expected to decrease due to adverse weather conditions and a reduction in the number of producers, with the United States and Europe remaining key markets. Peruvian producers face the challenge of meeting demand while maintaining product quality and competitiveness.
